The Gustavus women’s track and field team finished in first place Friday night in the Pre-MIAC Meet at Carelton College in Northfield, Minn. The Gusties won 11 of the 17 events scoring 205 points. Macalester placed second (119), Carleton placed third (97), Saint Mary’s placed fourth (68), and Bethel placed fifth (19).
Blythe Bittman won the 55 meter dash with a time of 7.58 and the 200 meter dash with a time of 7.85. Kelsey Becker placed second in the 55 meter dash with a time of 7.85 and Ashely Cronen placed second in the 200 meter dash with a time of 27.02. Cronen won the 400 meter dash with a time of 60.12 and Kim Swawnson placed a close second with a time of 60.94. Ali Cordie won the 600 meter dash with a time of 1:40.71 and Krista Cruse finished second with a time of 1:41.56.
Tasha Pike finished first in the 3000 meter run with a time of 10:51.44. Lindsay Weis won the triple jump with a distance of 34′ 5.75″ and won the high jump with a height of 5′ 2.5″. Shannon Martin and Kristi Schneider tied for first in the pole vault completing a height of 10′ 7″, which is a NCAA provisional qualification.
Jackie Luehmann won the shot put and weight throw with NCAA provisional qualifying distances of 43′ 11.25″ and 49′ 1.5″, respectively. Luehmann’s distance in the weight throw was also a Recreation Center record.
The Gusties won the 800 meter relay with a time of 1:48.86. Gustavus placed third int he 4×400 meter relay with a time of 4:24.98.
The Gusties will travel to Collegville, Minn. next week to compete in the St. John’s Invite.
