Women’s Hockey Defeats Concordia 5-0

The Gustavus women’s hockey team pushed its conference win streak to 11 games with a 5-0 win over Concordia in Moorhead, Minnesota. First year forward Ingrid Neve scored two goals and added an assist to lead the Gusties. Kristen Setterstrom and Kitty Hurley combined to record the shutout in the nets for Gustavus.

After playing a scoreless first period, Gustavus scored twice early in the second period to take a 2-0 lead, Ingrid Neve scored at the 3:19 mark and Josefin Pettersen lit the lamp just a minute later at the 4:22 mark. The Gusties took a 2-0 lead into the lockerroom at the end of the second period.

Coach Mike Carroll’s squad put the game away with three third period goals. Becky Steiner scored at 7:53, followed by Neve’s second goal at 13:07 and finishing with Laura Stypulkowski’s goal at 19:52.

Gustavus outshot the Cobbers 48-6 in the contest. During the current 11-game win streak, the Gusties have outscored their opponents 54-6. Tonight’s shutout was the seventh in the past 11 games.

The two teams wrap up the series tomorrow at 12:00 pm.
