Gustavus Adolphus College sophomore Erich Ziegler (Crystal Falls, Mich.) won the 24 kilometer classical race at the North End Classic in Cable, Wisconsin on Sunday, February 8. As a result of his performance, Ziegler was named the Male Nordic Skier of the Week for February 2-8 by the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
Ziegler bested a field of 136 skiers with a time of 1:19:05.8. He finished one minute ahead of the second place finisher. Ziegler will continue his quest for a berth in the NCAA Championships this weekend as he and his teammates will take part in NCAA Qualifier #4 taking place at the Graystone Trail System in St. Cloud, Minn.
Erich is the son of Bill and Joyce Zielger of Crystal Falls, Michigan.
