The Gustavus men’s swimming team finished fourth out of seven teams at the Univ. of Wisconsin at Stevens Point Invitational on Friday and Saturday. Freshman Scott Hagemeyer led the Gusties with first place finishes in both the 50 and 100 freestyle races. The meet included many of the top teams in the Upper Midwest.
Freshman sprinter Scott Hagemeyer continued to impress with two first place finishes. He posted a time of 21.56 in the 50 free and 47.53 in the 100 free. He was the only Gustavus men’s swimmer or diver to record a first place finish.
Other top individual finishes included Will Sutor finishing second in the 100 yard butterfly and third in the 200 yard butterfly; Seth Wiedmann placing second in the 200 backstroke and third in the 200 individual medley; Mike Maynard finishing second in the 100 backstroke and Marc Maynard placing third in the 200 yard breaststroke.
Top relay finishes included the 400 free relay placing second, the 200 free relay finishing third and the 400 medley relay finishing fourth.
Final team scores were: UW-Stevens Point 841; UW-La Crosse 799.5; St. Olaf 708; Gustavus Adolphus 680.5
