Women’s Hockey Defeats Bethel 10-0 Posted on January 16th, 2004 by

The Gustavus Adolphus women’s hockey team defeated Bethel College 10-0 at Don Roberts Rink in Saint Peter, Minn. on Friday. The Gusties scored four goals in the first and second period and two goals in the final period. Annie Katz and Ingrid Neve both scored a hat-trick for the Gusties. Ellen Doyle had a notable performance dishing out four assists and scoring one goal.

The Gusties scored four goals on 11 shots in the first period. Becky Steiner found the back of the net 4:24 into the game. Katie Deschneau scored approximately five minutes later (9:55), Ingrid Neve got her first goal at 11:11, and Annie Katz recored her first goal at 16:40.

The Gustie defense did not allow a shot on goal in the first twenty-one minutes of the game. Kara Meyer turned away 4 shots in her forty minutes of play. Kitty Hurley made five saves on six shots in her twenty minutes on the ice. The Gusties have not given up a goal in the last 161 minutes of play. In that time the women have scored 26 goals against their opponents.

The Gusties improve to 8-3 overall and 5-2 in the MIAC, while the Royals fall to 2-6-1 overall and 1-4-1 in the MIAC. The Gusties will travel to Fridley, Minn. tomorrow night to take on the Royals at Columbia Arena.
