Women’s Soccer Rallies Against Grinnell Posted on September 13th, 2003 by

Gustavus rallied from a 1-0 deficit to defeat Grinnell 2-1 in women’s soccer in Grinnell, Iowa on Saturday.
Trailing by one goal with two and a half minutes remaining in the game, Gustie forward Britanee Pelikan scored an unassisted goal to send the game into overtime. In the 96th minute of the game Birabwa Mutebi knocked in an unassisted goal, her first of the year, to give Gustavus the thrilling victory.

Lindsey LaVoie went the distance in goal, recording two saves along the way. The lone goal she gave up was to Grinnell’s Sarah Evans 21 minutes into the game.

With the victory, the Gustavus improved to 3-1 on the season. Grinnell dropped to 2-2. The Gusties will begin MIAC play on September 20 by traveling to Concordia for a 1:00 pm game.
