Women’s Soccer Rolls Past Wartburg Posted on September 12th, 2003 by

The Gustavus women’s soccer team began its two-day two-game Iowa trip by knocking of Wartburg 5-1 in Waverly, Iowa on Friday. The win improved the Gusties record to 2-1.
Gustavus got on the scoreboard early and often. Amy Larson scored her first collegiate goal just over four minutes into the game to put Coach Mike Stehlik’s squad on top 1-0. Megan Tepper and Jackie Lehman added goals, both of which were assisted by Larson, later on in the first half to give the Gusties a 3-0 advantage.

After Wartburg pulled to within 3-1 twenty minutes into the second half, Samantha Engh and Britanee Pelikan each scored a goal to finish off the Gustavus four-goal victory.

Lindsey LaVoie went the distance in goal for the Gusties. She recorded four saves and maintained her goals against average at 1.00.

Gustavus continues its Iowa trip on Saturday by facing Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa at 11:00 am. The Gusties begin MIAC play on Saturday, September 20 at Concordia.
