Men’s Soccer Team Claims Important 1-0 Win Over Puget Sound Posted on September 8th, 2003 by

The Gustavus Adolphus College men’s soccer team defeated the University of Puget Sound 1-0 at the Gustavus Soccer Field on Monday afternoon. Bobby Kroog (SO, Bloomington, MN/Jefferson) scored the game-winner for Gustavus as he headed in a cross from Jordan Iblings twelve minutes into the second half (57:59). The Gusties improve to 4-0-0 on the season while the Loggers fall to 2-1-0.

The match carried significant regional implications for both teams as the Gusties entered the day ranked second in the West Region while the Loggers were ranked third in the West Region. Gustavus is currently ranked 15th in the NSCAA Division III poll and the University of Puget Sound is ranked 23rd.

The match was very evenly played with the Gusties outshooting the Loggers nine to four. Both teams earned four corner kicks. Andrew Moulton of Gustavus picked up his second shutout of the season in the nets. He did not record a save. Brian Lawson picked up the loss in the nets for Puget Sound while allowing the lone goal and recording four saves. The Gusties were whistled for 11 fouls in the match while the Loggers picked up eight fouls. There were no cautions or ejections handed out in the game.
