(Green Lake, Wisconsin – Friday, May 16, 2003) — The Gustavus women’s golf team finished in seventh place at the four-day NCAA Division III Championships being played at The Golf Clubs of Lawsonia in Green Lake, Wisconsin. Methodist claimed the team championship by 53 strokes.
The Gusties fired a team score of 345 (+53) to give them a 72-hole total of 358-346-344-345–1393. It was the first time that Gustavus qualified for the national championships in the history of the program.
Gustavus was led on Friday by first-year student Erin Schliep who shot a 9-over par 82. Others scoring for Gustavus included Katie Aplin 84, Kelsey Getz 88 and Alana Reetz 91. Aplin was the top overall individual finisher for the Gusties. She shot 49-over par for the tournament, which tied her for 24th place.
