Women’s Indoor Track & Field Competes At Bethel Open
Select members of the Gustavus women's indoor track and field team took part in the Bethel Open Saturday afternoon in Arden Hills, Minn. Gustavus senior Kaelene Lundstrum led the way with three first place finishes. Lundstrum won the 55 meter hurdles (8.88), shot put (39-8 3/4), and high jump (5-4 1/4).
Women’s Indoor Track and Field Captures Second At MIAC Championships
Strong performances in the shot put helped the Gustavus women's indoor track and field clinch a second place finish with 107.3 points at the MIAC Indoor Championships which were held at Concordia College. Lisa Brown (Sr., Lake Crystal, Minn.), Kaelene Lundstrum (Jr., Bird Island, Minn.), and Sam Broderius (So., Hector, Minn.) helped the Gusties sweep the podium stand in the shot put by earning first through third place to highlight the second day of competition.

The Gustavus women's indoor track and field team stands in second place with 55.3 points after the first day of the MIAC Championships. Diana Scott (Jr., Bristol, Conn.) highlighted the day for the Gusties as she captured the title in the weight throw with a NCAA provisional qualifying distance and a new school record at 53' 6.25". The meet, which is being held at Concordia College, concludes on Saturday afternoon.
Kaelene Lundstrum Wins Pentathlon Title At MIAC Indoor Track and Field Championships
Kaelene Lundstrum (Jr., Bird Island, Minn./BOLD) successfully defended her pentathlon title at the 2009 MIAC Indoor Track and Field Championships with a school and conference record total of 3,445 points on Thursday evening. The previous school and conference record was 3,342 points set by Lundstrum in 2008 when she won the conference title. Her mark of 3,445 points met a NCAA provisional standard and is the second-highest point total in Division III this season.
Kaelene Lundstrum Named MIAC Women’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week
Gustavus Adolphus junior Kaelene Lundstrum (Bird Island, Minn./BOLD) was named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week for the week ending March 1, 2009. Lundstrum won the shot put and the high jump with NCAA provisional marks at the Pre-MIAC Meet hosted by Macalester on Saturday. Her leap of 1.67 meters (5' 5 3/4" ft) in the high jump not only tops the MIAC list, but is sixth nationally.
Women’s Indoor Track and Field Captures First Place At The Meet Of The Hearts
Junior Kaelene Lundstrum won three events to lead the Gustavus women's indoor track and field team to a first place finish with 178 points at the five-team Meet of the Hearts hosted by Carleton College. The Gusties took first in six events as they finished 44 points ahead of second place Luther's 134 points. Other schools at the meet included Carleton, Hamline, and Macalester, which tallied 96 points, 66 points, and 42 points, respectively.
Women’s Indoor Track and Field Competes At MSU Open
Members of the Gustavus women's indoor track and field team competed at the MSU Open hosted by Minnesota State University, Mankato on Saturday. Senior Lisa Brown (Sr., Lake Crystal, Minn.) was the lone Gustie to finish in the top five as she was third in the shot put and met a NCAA Provisional Qualifying Standard with a throw of 42' 7". Brown is the first MIAC athlete to reach the provisional qualifying standard in the event. No team scores were kept at the meet.
Women’s Track and Field Performer Kaelene Lundstrom Named MIAC’s Field Athlete of the Week
Gustavus track and field athlete Kaelene Lundstrum has been named the MIAC's Indoor Track and Field, Field Athlete of the Week for her efforts at the Carleton Pre-MIAC meet last Friday. Lundstrum won the high jump with a school record effort of 5' 6'', placed second in the 55-meter hurdles, third in the 400 meters, and ran a leg on the winning 4 x 400 relay team.
Women’s Indoor Track and Field Squad Opens Season at MSU, Mankato
The Gustavus women's track and field team opened its indoor season on Saturday by taking part in the MSU Open hosted by Minnesota State University. Kaelene Lundstrom got the Gusties off to a great start as she finished second in the heptathlon with a school record total of 3,203 points.
