Tanner Miest Named MIAC Men’s Track Athlete of the Week
Gustavus Adolphus College hurdler Tanner Miest (Sr., Willmar, Minn./New London-Spicer) has been named Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men's Track Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 22, 2007. Miest won the 110-meter hurdle title at the Carleton Relays with a season-best time of 14.84 seconds. Miest's time currently ranks ninth in NCAA Division III.
Lisa Brown Named MIAC Women’s Field Athlete of the Week
Gustavus Adolphus College sophomore thrower Lisa Brown (Lake Crystal, Minn./Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial) has been named MIAC Women's Field Athlete of the Week for the Week ending April 15, 2007. Brown automatically qualified for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the javelin throw with a facility-record throw of 146 feet, 1 inch at the Lee Krough Invitational Saturday.
Tony Konicek Named MIAC Baseball Player of the Week
Gustavus Adolphus College senior centerfielder Tony Konicek (Rochester, Minn./Mayo) has been named Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Baseball Position Player of the Week for the week ending April 8, 2007. Konicek, the reigning conference MVP, was 6-for-9 (.667) with three doubles, two runs scored, and an RBI as the Gusties recorded a doubleheader split with St. Thomas on April 2.
Andrea Peterson Named MIAC Women’s Hockey of the Week
Gustavus Adolphus College women's hockey player Andrea Peterson has been named Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's Hockey Player of the Week for the week ending Feb. 25, 2007. Peterson scored a goal and two assists in last weekend's sweep of the College of St. Catherine (7-2; 5-1), becoming the MIAC's all-time leading scorer (all games) in women's hockey in the process.
Scott Hagemeyer Named MIAC Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week
Gustavus Adolphus College senior Scott Hagemeyer (Willmar, Minn.) has been named Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week for the week ending February 4, 2007. In a recent dual with UW-Stevens Point on February 3, Hagemeyer won the 100 free and 100 backstroke, and was the anchor of the winning 200 free relay.
Lauren Wallerius Named MIAC Women’s Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week
Gustavus Adolphus College senior diver Lauren Wallerius (Albertville, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville) has been named Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week for the week ending February 4, 2007. Wallerius won both diving competitions in Saturday's dual against UW-Stevens Point, setting a new school record and achieving an NCAA qualifying score on the three-meter board.
Josh Sorenson Named MIAC Track and Field Performer of the Week
Gustavus Adolphus College senior Josh Sorenson has been named Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Field Performer of the Week for the week ending February 5, 2007. Sorenson provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships with an indoor school-record vault of 15' 7 1/4" at the MSU Open last weekend.
Adam Miron Named to D3football.com Team of the Week
Gustavus Adolphus College senior linebacker Adam Miron (Princeton, Minn. / Princeton) has been named to the D3football.com Team of the Week for the week ending Nov. 12, 2006. Miron amassed a game-high eight tackles (five solo), a sack, an interception and recovered a fumble in Gustavus' 14-10 season-ending win over Carleton.
Jared Sieling Named MIAC Football Defensive Player of the Week
Gustavus Adolphus junior linebacker Jared Sieling has been named Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Football Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending Nov. 5, 2006. Sieling recorded seven tackles (five solo), one tackle for loss, one interception and one sack in Gustavus' 7-0 win over Concordia-Moorhead last Saturday.
