Volleyball Defeats Saint Benedict 3-1 In Battle Of Ranked Teams

The Gustavus volleyball team prevailed in a battle of ranked teams as the 20th-ranked Gusties defeated 21st-ranked Saint Benedict 3-1 (25-27, 25-23, 27-25, 25-15) on Wednesday in St. Peter. The Blazers outhit coach Kari Eckheart's squad 56-51, but committed 11 more hitting errors during the match. Gustavus improved to 22-3 overall and 6-2 in conference play, while Saint Benedict saw its' 18-game winning streak come to an end as it dropped to 25-4 overall and 8-1 in the MIAC.

Gustavus Volleyball To Participate in "Dig Pink" Initiative on Wednesday

The Gustavus Adolphus volleyball team will be taking part in the "Dig Pink" initiative at the Gustavus vs. Saint Benedict volleyball match on Wednesday, October 22 at 7 p.m. Dig Pink is an initiative to raise breast cancer awareness headed by the Side-Out Foundation. In conjunction with the event, admission for Wednesday's match is free as freewill donations accepted instead. Spectators are also encouraged to show their support for the event by wearing pink to the game.

Blocking Effort Propels Volleyball Past St. Catherine 3-1

Strong net play propelled the Gustauvs volleyball team in a 3-1 (25-21, 25-22, 23-25, 25-20) victory over St. Catherine in St. Paul on Wednesday night. Angela Ahrendt (Fy., Shoreview, Minn.) and Britta Bolm (Sr., Alexandria, Minn.) teamed up for seven blocks, as head coach Kari Eckheart's squad outblocked the Wildcats 10-3. Gustavus moved to 21-3 overall and 5-2 in league, while St. Catherine dropped to 10-12 overall and 1-6 in the MIAC.

Volleyball Wins Two Matches To Finish Border Battle 4-0

Head coach Kari Eckheart and the Gustavus volleyball swept the University of Dubuque and Cornell College 3-0 to conclude the MIAC-IIAC Border Battle with a 4-0 record in Mount Vernon, Iowa. The Gusties defeated Dubuque by the scores of 26-24, 25-7, 25-18 and Cornell 25-21, 25-15, 25-10. Libero Emily Klein (Sr., Red Wing, Minn.) was named to the eight-member all-tournament team as Gustavus improved to 20-3 overall.

Volleyball Finishes 2-0 After First Day of Border Battle

The Gustavus volleyball team posted a 2-0 record after defeating both Luther College and Buena Vista University 3-1 on the first day of the MIAC-IIAC Border Battle in Mount Vernon, Iowa. The 21st-ranked Gusties improved their overall record to 18-3 with the victories. Head coach Kari Eckheart's squad will wrap up the Border Battle against Cornell College and the University of Dubuque on Saturday.

Volleyball Hitters Propel Gustavus Past Carleton 3-0

For the second time in three games, the Gustavus Adolphus volleyball team hit over .300 to give the Gusties a 3-0 win (25-19, 25-20, 25-22) over Carleton College on Wednesday in St. Peter. Head coach Kari Eckheart's squad recorded 47 kills and 12 errors en route to a .340 hitting percentage. With the win, Gustavus moved into a tie for fourth place in the MIAC standings with Carleton at 4-2.

Gustavus Volleyball Falls To No. 6-St. Thomas 3-0

The Gustavus volleyball team was unable to match the offense of the University of St. Thomas in a 3-0 loss (25-15, 25-11, 29-27) on Friday night in St. Paul. The Tommies hit 51 kills compared to just 31 for the Gusties en route to the victory. Kyley Crotty led St. Thomas with 15 kills, while no Gustavus player reached double-digit kills. Gustavus fell to 15-3 overall and 3-2 in the conference, while St. Thomas improved its overall record to 16-1 and its MIAC record to 4-0.

Offense Lifts Gustavus Volleyball Over Bethel 3-0

The Gustavus volleyball team's hitters proved to be too much for Bethel University as the Gusties swept the Royals 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-18) in Arden Hills on Wednesday. Head Coach Kari Eckheart's tallied 46 kills compared to 28 for Bethel. Meghan Gehring (Jr., Eau Claire, Wis.) and Olivia Warren (Fy., Goodhue, Minn.) paced Gustavus with 12 and 10 kills, respectively. The Gusties improved to 15-2 overall and 3-1 in the MIAC and the Royals fell to 5-11 overall and 0-4 in conference play.

The Gusties enter the match at 13-2 overall and 1-1 in the MIAC, while the Pipers come to St. Peter with an overall record of 10-4 and a conference record of 1-1. Gustavus Volleyball Sweeps Hamline 3-0; Klein Reaches 2,000 Career Digs

Strong defense propelled the Gustavus volleyball team past Hamline University 3-0 (25-23, 25-18, 25-22) Saturday afternoon in St. Peter as the Golden Gusties held a 13-5 edge in blocks. Emily Klein anchored the back row defense with 28 digs as she became the sixth player in MIAC history to reach 2,000 career digs. Angela Ahrendt was a force in the middle as she compiled nine blocks and 11 kills.
