The Gustavus Adolphus Nordic ski team wrapped up their weekend at the CCSA/NCAA Qualifier at Telemark Resort near Cable, Wis., by competing in classic technique races. The Gustavus women placed four in the top 25 overall, led by Sarah Willis in 19th place. The Gustavus men were led by Scott Kyser, who finished 52nd overall.
Eleven Gustavus Adolphus Nordic skiers competed in freestyle technique races Saturday at the FIS SuperTour/NCAA Qualifier at Telemark Resort near Cable, Wis. Laura Edlund finished 28th overall (18th among collegiate skiers) to lead the Gustie women, while Scott Kyser finished 53rd overall (28th among collegiate skiers) to lead the Gustavus men. The Gusties will close out the weekend by competing in Sunday's classic races.
Jenny Pusch (So., Minneapolis, Minn./Holy Angels) netted four goals, including three on the power play, as the Gustavus Adolphus women's hockey team completed a weekend sweep of Bethel University 8-0 Saturday afternoon at Schwan Super Rink in Blaine. Molly Doyle scored a pair of goals for the second night in a row for the Gusties (15-1-0, 10-0-0 MIAC), who will face No. 4 UW-Superior Tuesday night in Superior, Wis.
The Gustavus Nordic ski team capped off an exciting weekend of action at the NorAm SuperTour stop at Telemark Resort in Cable, Wis. Senior Erich Ziegler opened the weekend with a 19th-place finish among collegiate skiers in Saturday's 10K Classic and followed that up with a first-place finish among collegiate skiers in Sunday's 15K Freestyle. Ziegler's win was the first by a Gustavus skier in a NCAA/CCSA qualifier.
Senior Chandra Daw and sophomore Laura Edlund each registered a pair of top-30 finishes to lead the Gustavus women's Nordic ski team to a third-place team finish at the NorAm SuperTour stop at Telemark Resort in Cable, Wis. last weekend. The event served as the third of five Central Collegiate Ski Association (CCSA) qualifiers for the NCAA National Collegiate Skiing Championships in Colorado Springs, Colo. in March.
