Five Gusties Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District V College Division At-Large Teams
Five Gustavus Adolphus College student athletes were recognized recently as the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) released the 2007 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District V College Division At-Large Teams. Andy Bryan (men's tennis), Margaret Dorer (women's hockey), and Nicole Gergen (gymnastics) were named to the first team, while Connor Ziegler (men's swimming and diving) and Jaime Gaard (women's tennis) were honored on the second team.
Men’s Tennis Team Hosting ITA Division III Indoor Championship This Weekend
Gustavus Adolphus College is set to host the seventh annual Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) National Division III Indoor Championship at the Swanson Tennis Center in St. Peter, Minnesota. Eight of the top 25 teams in Division III tennis will play off to determine the 2007 ITA National Indoor Champion. Three-time and defending champion Gustavus will defend its title as the #2 seed. 2004 and 2005 ITA Indoor champion Emory University will be the #1 seed.
Six Gustavus Football Players Receive All-MIAC Honors
Gustavus Adolphus College linebackers Adam Miron and Jared Sieling have been named to the All-MIAC first team, as voted on by the league's coaches. In addition, defensive lineman Nick David, defensive back Kevin Hegland, quarterback/kicker Jordan Stolp and offensive lineman Jared Thelemann were each honored on the second team. Defensive back Brian Evans was named to the MIAC Sportsmanship Team.
Adam Miron Named to D3football.com Team of the Week
Gustavus Adolphus College senior linebacker Adam Miron (Princeton, Minn. / Princeton) has been named to the D3football.com Team of the Week for the week ending Nov. 12, 2006. Miron amassed a game-high eight tackles (five solo), a sack, an interception and recovered a fumble in Gustavus' 14-10 season-ending win over Carleton.
Three Gustavus Teams, Eight Individuals Recognized for Academics
Three Gustavus Adolphus College athletic teams and eight individual student-athletes have been recognized recently by each sport's respective coaches association for excellence in athletics and academics. Men's and women's outdoor track and women's basketball have all earned team honors, while individual athletes in men's and women's outdoor track and field and men's and women's golf have received honors.
