The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its 2016 Volleyball Awards on Wednesday and Gustavus took home four All-Conference awards, as well as the top honor of Player-of-the-Year. In just her sophomore campaign, Nora Holtan (Rochester, Minn.) earns MIAC Player-of-the-Year after a stellar season. Lauren Hanson (So., Redwood Falls, Minn.), Brittany Luethmers (So., Prior Lake, Minn.), and Taylor Trautman (Sr., Hutchinson, Minn.) join Holtan on the 2016 All-Conference Team, marking the third time in program history that four Gusties were selected.
Volleyball Falls In Close Five-Set Match At Saint Mary’s
The Gustavus volleyball team ended the regular season Saturday with a five-set loss at Saint Mary’s. The Gusties lost by set scores of 21-25, 25-21, 23-25, 25-17, 12-15, dropping to 21-7 overall and 9-2 in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Gustavus now prepares for the MIAC Playoffs as the No. 2 seed and will host the winner of No. 3 St. Thomas and No. 6 Concordia on Thursday.

The Gustavus volleyball team Wednesday locked up the No. 2 seed and a first round bye in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Playoffs with a shutout victory over Hamline University. The Gusties defeated the Pipers 25-20, 25-17, 25-23 to improve to 21-6 overall and 9-1 in the MIAC.

Volleyball’s Impressive Fifth Set Results In 3-2 Victory Over Concordia
After dropping the first two sets Friday night, the Gustavus volleyball team dug deep and rallied for an impressive five-set victory over Concordia College. The Gusties posted a convincing 15-3 win in the fifth set, marking the program's largest margin of victory in the fifth game since rally point scoring debuted in 2001. The win propels the Gusties to 19-6 overall and 7-1 in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, while the Cobbers fall to 8-15 overall and 4-4 in the league.
Volleyball Hosts Concordia Friday For Senior Night
After playing five non-conference matches, the Gustavus volleyball team returns to Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play Friday as it takes on Concordia College at Gus Young Court. The Gusties enter the match after escaping with a 3-2 victory over Buena Vista on Tuesday, while the Cobbers were most recently shut out by Colorado College on Saturday. Gustavus is 18-6 overall and 6-1 in the MIAC, while Concordia is 8-14 overall and 4-3 in the MIAC.
