Gymnastics Finishes First at John Zuerlein Invitational
The Gustavus Adolphus gymnastics team finished first at the four-team John Zuerlein Invitational at the Univerisity of Wisconsin-Stout Friday in Menomonie, Wis. The Gusties took top team honors in three of four disciplines, including five scores of 8.950 or over in the vault and three more on the floor exercise. Gustavus will host Hamline Friday, Feb. 2 in a WIAC dual.
Gymnastics Opens Season With 167.450-167.000 Win Over UW-Stout
The Gustavus Adolphus gymnastics team opened their season Monday with a 167.450-167.000 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference dual win over University of Wisconsin-Stout. The Gusties led by nearly four points after the first rotation but survived a pair of 9+ scores by the Blue Devils on the balance beam to secure the win. Gustavus will take part in the Wisconsin-Eau Claire Invitational Friday night.
Men’s Hockey Downs UW-Stout in Season Opener
The Gustavus men's hockey team built a 3-0 first period lead against UW-Stout in its seasson opener and never looked back, defeating the Blue Devils 7-4 on Friday night in St. Peter. The Gusties improve to 1-0-0, while UW-Stout suffers their first defeat of the season, falling to 2-1-0. Sophomore Cody Drysdale (Mankato, Minn.) netted a pair and assisted on three others to lead Gustavus, while junior Steven Jensen (Kentwood, Mich.) added a goal and three assists.
