Another Late Goal Lifts Men’s Soccer to 1-0 Win Over Augsburg

For the second consecutive match, the Gustavus men’s soccer team Saturday ended a scoreless battle in the waning moments of regulation to claim a 1-0 conference victory. Matt Gibbons (So., Minneapolis, Minn.) weaved his way through Augsburg defenders in the box and rifled a shot into the right side of the net for what proved to be the game-winning goal in the 82nd minute. Scott Heinen (So., Aurora, Ill.) was credited with the assist, his team-leading fifth of the season.

Arthur Parens (Sr., Wayzata, Minn.) scored a hat trick Wednesday, guiding the Gustavus men’s soccer team to a 4-0 win over Martin Luther at the Gustavus reserve field. The shutout victory improves the Gusties to 2-0 early in the season, while the Knights fall to 0-3.

Men’s Soccer Opens Season With 4-1 Win Over Presentation

The Gustavus men’s soccer team Friday opened the Tudor Flintham era with a decisive 4-1 victory over Presentation at the Gustie Soccer Field. Arthur Parens (Sr., Wayzata, Minn.) tallied two goals and Scott Heinen (So., Aurora, Ill.) posted his first career three-assist match to lead the offense, while the team outshot the visitors by 17.
