The No. 12 Gustavus volleyball team made quick work of Carleton on Wednesday night, winning in straight sets 25-14, 25-22, and 25-10. The victory moves the Gusties to 11-2 overall and 2-0 in the MIAC, while the Knights fall to 10-2 overall and 1-1 in the league.

The No. 9-ranked Gustavus volleyball team started the Loras Invitational with a pair of wins Friday. The Gusties dropped only the second frame against Dominican and rallied to win in four sets, followed by a shutout victory over Dubuque, improving to 5-1 overall. With 20 kills on the day, Lauren Hanson (Sr., Redwood Falls, Minn.) became the 14th member of Gustavus’s 1,000-kill club.

The Gustavus volleyball team wrapped up play at the Trinity National Invitational on Saturday with a pair of wins to improve to 3-1. The Gusties beat Aurora 3-1 and then swept Cabrini in straight sets.

Volleyball Splits Opening Day at Trinity National Invitational

The No. 7 Gustavus volleyball team opened its 2018 season Friday by splitting a pair of matches at the Trinity National Invitational. The Gusties swept UW-Stevens Point 3-0 and then dropped a matchup of nationally ranked teams to No. 11 Trinity 3-1.

2018 Volleyball Season Preview

One season removed from the program’s first NCAA regional championship and an appearance at the national quarterfinals, the Gustavus volleyball team has turned the page and is embarking on a monumental milestone as it celebrates its 50th season this year. Excitement is building for the anniversary celebration, which will take place Sept. 22, as alumni, family, and friends of the program will celebrate a proud history of Gustavus volleyball.

Volleyball, Women’s Hockey Add Former All-American Gusties To Coaching Staffs

Two Gustavus women’s athletic teams that competed in their respective NCAA Championships last season have bolstered their coaching staffs with All-American graduates of the College. Alyssa Taylor ‘15 and Kirstin Peterson ’11 have been named assistant coaches for volleyball and women’s hockey, respectively.

The 2017 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America Volleyball Teams were announced Wednesday morning and Gustavus junior setter Nora Holtan (Rochester, Minn.) has been named to the seven-member Second Team. The CoSIDA Academic All-America Teams recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.

The Gustavus volleyball team’s season came to an end Friday at the NCAA regional semifinals, dropping a three-set match to defending national champion Cal Lutheran by scores of 25-15, 25-12, 25-23. The Gusties end their season 24-8 overall.

Volleyball Shuts Out Wartburg In NCAA Regional First Round

Having last season’s experience at the NCAA Championships provided a higher comfort level for the Gustavus volleyball team Thursday as it cruised to a three-set victory over Wartburg College in the opening round of the regional tournament. The Gusties won by scores of 25-23, 25-15, 25-16 to claim their first win at the NCAA tournament since 1986.
