Alhouni, Whaling To Represent Men’s Tennis At NCAA Championships

The NCAA Division III Men’s Tennis Committee has selected the individuals who will compete in the singles and doubles competition of the 2017 NCAA Division III Men’s Tennis Championships, taking place May 25-27 in Chattanooga, Tenn. Mohanad Alhouni (Jr., Tripoli, Libya) will compete in the 32-individual singles draw, while the duo of Alhouni and Patrick Whaling (So., Manikob Sabot, Va.) will pair up in the 16-team doubles draw.

Five Gusties Named MIAC Men’s Tennis All-Conference

Five members of the Gustavus men's tennis team were named to Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference teams, announced Thursday by the MIAC office. Mohanad Alhouni (Jr., Tripoli, Libya) and Chase Johnson (So., Golden Valley, Minn.) were named to both the singles and doubles team, Zach Ekstein (Jr., Eagan, Minn.) was named to the singles squad while Tommy Entwistle (Jr., Sioux Falls, S.D.) and Patrick Whaling (So., Manikob Sabot, Va.) earned a spot on the doubles team.

Patrick Whaling Named MIAC Men’s Tennis Athlete Of The Week

Patrick Whaling went 4-0 on the weekend and helped the Gusties win their 17th-straight match before the impressive streak was finally snapped by NCAA Division I opponent North Dakota. Whaling won both singles matches at the No. 3 position and both at the No. 1 doubles, including helping guide the team to a win over No. 36-ranked Coe College. He was a 6-3, 6-4, singles winner and an 8-4 doubles winner against Coe, and he also helped Gustavus score a 9-0 sweep of conference foe Saint John's with a 6-1, 6-1, singles win and an 8-4 doubles win.

All-Gustie Singles Final Caps Off ITA Men’s Tennis Midwest Regional

The Gustavus men's tennis team hosted the 2016 ITA Midwest Regional and Midwest Open tournaments from Friday through Monday. The Gustie's own Mohanad Alhouni (Jr., Tripoli, Libya) was crowned the ITA singles champion after defeating his doubles teammate, Patrick Whaling (So., Manikob Sabot, Va.).

The Gustavus men's tennis team completed their first event of the fall campaign this weekend at the Drake Invitational in Des Moines, Iowa. Mohanad Alhouni (Jr., Tripoli, Libya) finished as the runner-up in the Flight 1 singles draw.
