Football Scores In Final Seconds, Defeats Pacific Lutheran 34-33 On Homecoming Day
The Gustavus football team thrilled a Homecoming crowd of just over 2,000 as quarterback Jordan Becker threw a one-yard touchdown pass to Elliott Herdina with :12 seconds remaining in regulation play giving the Gusties a 34-33 win over Pacific Lutheran University on Saturday afternoon. Becker had a big day for the Gusties as he completed 26-of-41 passes for 310 yards and five touchdowns with no interceptions, while Elliott Herdina had 11 catches for 141 yards and two TDs.
Balanced Attack Leads Football Past Pacific Lutheran 24-14
The Gustavus football team had 122 rushing yards and 192 passing yards as the Gusties defeated Pacific Lutheran University 24-14 at Sparks Stadium in Puyallup, Wash. on Saturday afternoon. Head coach Jay Schoenebeck's squad ran 85 plays as Gustavus held the ball for nearly 37 minutes compared to 56 plays in 23 minutes for the Lutes. Gustavus improved its overall record to 3-2, while Pacific Lutheran fell to 1-3.
Football To Face Pacific Lutheran On Saturday
The Gustavus football team will travel to Tacoma, Wash. to face Pacific Lutheran University of the Northwest Athletic Conference on Saturday, October 11 at 3:30 p.m. (CDT). The Gusties enter the contest at 2-2 overall after falling to St. Thomas 30-22 last Saturday, while the Lutes come in with an overall record of 1-2 after defeating Lewis & Clark 40-14 a week ago.
