Gustavus Adolphus College senior men's tennis players John Kauss (St. Paul, Minn./Harding) and Mike Burdakin (Sr., Bettendorf, Iowa) saw their seasons come to an end after losses in singles and doubles at the 2009 NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Championships in Claremont, Calif. Kauss fell in the semifinal round of singles play, while Burdakin and Kauss bowed out of the doubles draw in the quarterfinals.
John Kauss Advances To Quarterfinals In Singles And Doubles With Mike Burdakin At NCAA Tennis Championships
Gustavus Adolphus men's tennis player John Kauss (Sr., St. Paul, Minn.) won two singles matches before pairing with Mike Burdakin (Sr., Bettendorf, Iowa) to win a doubles match to to the quarterfinals of both the singles and doubles draws at the 2009 NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Championships. The championships are being held at Biszantz Family Tennis Center in Claremont, Calif. Quarterfinals in both draws and semifinals in singles will be contested on Saturday.

The NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Committee has selected John Kauss (Sr., St. Paul, Minn.) as one of 32 single players to participate in the NCAA Men's Tennis Individual Championship and is the only undefeated Division III player in the singles draw at 24-0. Kauss and doubles partner Mike Burdakin (Sr., Bettendorf, Iowa) were also selected as one of 16 double teams to participate in the NCAA Men's Tennis Double Championship.
Gustavus Claims Singles and Doubles Titles At Men’s Tennis Wilson/ITA Midwest Tournament
Gustavus Adolphus College won titles in the singles and doubles draws of the Men's ITA Midwest Regional Tournament Sunday in St. Peter, Minn. The #1-seed John Kauss of Gustavus defeated #8-seed Charlie Paukert of Gustavus 6-3, 6-2 to claim the singles title. The #2-seeded doubles team of Mike Burdakin and John Kauss of Gustavus defeated the #8-seeded doubles team of Nick Hansen and Kevin Stickney of Gustavus 6-2, 6-2 to earn the doubles title.
