Decker Named MIAC Football Defensive Player Of The Week

The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its football Athlete of the Week awards this afternoon, with Gustavus linebacker Casey Decker (Sr., Mapleton, Minn.) earning the Defensive Player of the Week honor.

Casey Lewandoski Named MIAC Pitcher Of The Week

Casey Lewandoski (Jr., Fairbanks, Alaska) appeared in three games and earned wins against Augsburg and St. Thomas. Throughout the week, Lewandoski threw seven innings of scoreless relief, allowing just three hits, while striking out four batters. The Fairbanks native tossed five innings of shutout baseball against St. Thomas in the season finale, earning the win in a 13-inning contest. Lewandoski dropped his season ERA from 3.64 to 2.95 and finished the year with 19 appearances, setting a new Gustavus program record for most appearances in a single season.

Meierhenry Garners Second-Straight MIAC Women’s Golf Athlete Of The Week Award

Mae Meierhenry (Sr., Sioux Falls., S.D.) guided the Gustavus women's golf team to a successful weekend at the Battle at the Creek at Pebble Creek Golf Course to earn her second-consecutive Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Golf Athlete of the Week award.

Yassine Derbani Named MIAC Men’s Tennis Athlete Of The Week

Gustavus men's tennis player Yassine Derbani (Fy., Casablanca, Morocco) played a role in seven of the Gusties' 17 team points last week as Gustavus competed against stiff competition during its spring trip in Texas. Derbani participated in four of the team's six matches, going 3-1 in singles while being undefeated at 4-0 during doubles play, all against ranked opponents.
