The Gustavus men’s basketball team made 12-of-12 free throws in the final four minutes of the game to stop a late Bethel rally and claim a 79-74 win in Arden Hills, Minn. The Gusties were led by Phil Sowden with 20 points and six rebounds.

The Gustavus men’s basketball team moved to 2-0 in the MIAC with an impressive 80-57 win over Concordia in St. Peter on Saturday afternoon. The Gusties, who shot 62.5 percent from the field, were led in scoring by Doug Espenson with 19 points.

The Gustavus men’s basketball team opened Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play with a convincing 91-60 win at Hamline on Wednesday night. Junior Adam TeBrake led the Gusties with 18 points.

The Gustavus men’s basketball team lost a heartbreaker to Carthage College 57-56 on Sunday afternoon. Kevin Menard hit a jumper with :15 left to give the Redmen the one-point victory in St. Peter. The Gusties Doug Espenson led all scorers with 19 points.

The Gustavus men’s basketball team lost to #16 Buena Vista 54-45 at Gus Young Court in St. Peter on Tuesday night. Buena Vista’s Michael Cameron made 5-of-6 free throws in the final :39 to ice the win for the Beavers. Doug Espenson scored 17 for Gustavus
