Men’s Basketball Suffers Heartbreaking 69-68 Loss At Concordia
Concordia's Karl Larson made a free throw with 00:03 on the clock as the Cobbers knocked off the Gustavus men's basketball team 69-68 on Saturday in Moorhead. Gustie junior Sam Paulson made a pair of free throws with 00:31 remaining to tie the game, but Larson made the second of two free throws to put Concordia ahead as Gustavus was unable to get a shot off on the last possession of the game. Robert Schmidt led the Gusties in scoring with 18 points as he went 4-for-5 from the three-point line.
Men’s Tennis Opens 0-3 in Hawai’i
The Gustavus Adolphus men's tennis team opened their season with three losses in Hawai'i over the weekend. The Gusties fell to Hawai'i Pacific University 8-1 on Thursday, BYU-Hawai'i 6-3 on Friday and the University of Hawai'i 7-0 on Saturday. HPU and BYU-Hawai'i are NCAA Division II schools, while Hawai'i is a NCAA Division I school.
Men’s Hockey Falls to UW-Superior 5-3
The Gustavus men's hockey team took a 2-0 lead after one period on a pair of power-play goals by senior defensemen Keith Detlefsen, but could not hold on for the win, falling to UW-Superior, 5-3, Saturday night in Superior,Wis. UW-Superior scored four straight goals in the second period to take the lead and added an empty net goal late in the third to secure the victory and hand the Gusties (3-1) their first loss of the season.
