Four Softball Players Earn All-Conference Honors
The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its 2011 Softball Awards on Tuesday, May 17, recognizing four Gustavus softball players with All-Conference honors. Senior catcher Dani Cattrysse, sophomore outfielder MacKenzie Dalton, junior infielder Lisa Klass, and sophomore pitcher/DH Kate Rentschler were all named to the 2011 MIAC All-Conference Team.
Four Gusties Named To MIAC Softball All-Tournament Team
Four Gustavus softball players were named to the 13-player MIAC All-Tournament Team following the MIAC Playoffs. Those Gusties included MacKenzie Dalton (Edina, Minn.), Lisa Klass (Richfield, Minn.), Jen Ulmen (Hokah, Minn.) and Emily Wendorff (Lakeville, Minn.).
Softball Splits With Saint Mary’s
The Gustavus softball team came back to win game two and salvage a split against Saint Mary's on Monday afternoon in St. Peter. The Cardinals took game one 4-1 and Gustavus came out victorious 5-0 in game two. Gustavus moves to 23-12-1 overall and 16-3-1 in the MIAC, while Saint Mary’s moves to 20-14 overall and 13-7 in the MIAC.
Softball Earns Second Straight MIAC Sweep, Defeats St. Olaf 9-1, 3-0
The Gustavus softball team swept St. Olaf by scores of 9-1 and 3-0 on Monday afternoon in St. Peter. The Gusties improve to 11-9 overall and 5-0 in the MIAC, while St. Olaf falls to 5-15 overall and 2-3 in the MIAC. Kate Rentschler (10-6) picked up the win in game one and Erin Truebenbach (3-2) got the victory in game two. Lisa Klass and Dani Cattrysse each had three hits on the day.
Softball Sweeps Concordia 9-1, 8-0
The Gustavus softball team swept Concordia on Saturday afternoon in St. Peter, winning game one 9-1 and game two 8-0. With the victories, the Gusties move to 11-9 overall and 4-0 in the MIAC.
Softball Defeats St. Kate’s 5-3 In Game One, Game Two Suspended Due To Darkness
The Gustavus softball team defeated St. Catherine 5-3 in game one, as game two was suspended due to darkness tied 6-6 in the sixth inning. Kate Rentschler got the win on the hill, while Lisa Klass drove in the game-winning run in the top of the seventh inning.
