The Gusties dropped a five-set heartbreaker to No. 18-ranked Elmhurst in game one, which ended 18-16 in the final set, and then bounced back with a five-set victory over No. 14 UW-Whitewater.
Volleyball Hosts Saint Mary’s In MIAC Semifinals Tonight
Not even a week after sweeping Saint Mary’ University in straight sets to close out the regular season, the Gustavus volleyball team once again hosts the Cardinals, this time in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Playoff Semifinals at 7 p.m. Thursday. The Gusties are the No. 1 seed in the playoffs after finishing the conference schedule 11-0, while the Cardinals are the No. 4 seed (8-3 MIAC) and are coming off a straight set victory over Concordia on Tuesday in the quarterfinals.
Volleyball Runs The MIAC Table 11-0 With Straight Set Win Over Saint Mary’s
The Gustavus volleyball team beat Saint Mary’s in straight sets 25-17, 25-21 and 25-23 Saturday afternoon to finish the regular season 25-2 overall and a perfect 11-0 in the MIAC. The decisive victory gave the Gusties their 25th straight win, an undisputed regular season conference championship and marked the first perfect conference record since the 1985 team went 11-0 in the league.

UPDATE: After Saturday's results, Gustavus has clinched at least a share of the MIAC regular season championship. One more win or a loss by Saint Mary's would clinch an outright championship. This is Gustavus' first conference title since 1986 and fifth overall (1982, '84, '85, '86 and 2015).

A 31-year old record stands no longer as the Gustavus volleyball team won its 20th and 21st straight matches Saturday, setting a new program record for consecutive victories. The Gusties defeated both Simpson College and Loras College in straight sets, breaking the previous program record of 20 consecutive wins to start the 1984 season. The Gusties are now 21-2 on the season.

The Gustavus volleyball team continued its winning ways Friday night as it claimed its 17th straight victory, defeating Carleton College in straight sets 25-23, 25-23 and 25-13. The Gusties improve to 17-2 overall and 6-0 in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
Volleyball Has Tough Road Test At Carleton Friday
The Gustavus volleyball team returns to Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play at 7 p.m. Friday as it travels to Northfield, Minn. for a tough road test against Carleton College. The Gusties are riding a 16-match win streak with an overall record of 16-2 and a 5-0 MIAC mark, while the Knights are 11-6 overall and 3-3 in the league.
