The No. 20 ranked Gustavus volleyball team defeated Lakeland College in three sets prior to falling in five against the No. 12-ranked Millikin University during day one of the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Tournament on Friday.

Nora Holtan Named AVCA First Team All-America

The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced its 36th annual All-America teams for Division III on Tuesday and Gustavus star setter Nora Holtan (So., Rochester, Minn.) has been named to the First Team, while Lauren Hanson (So., Redwood Falls, Minn.) received Honorable Mention. The awards will be presented Nov. 16 at the NCAA Division III Women's National Championship banquet in Oshkosh, Wis., where the 2016 Division III AVCA Player of the Year will be announced.

Volleyball’s Season Ends With Loss To Defending Champ Cal Lutheran

The Gustavus volleyball team’s season came to an end Friday at the NCAA regional semifinals, dropping a three-set match to defending national champion Cal Lutheran by scores of 25-15, 25-12, 25-23. The Gusties end their season 24-8 overall.

Volleyball Erases Two-Set Deficit, Tops St. Thomas To Advance To MIAC Championship

Trailing 2-0 after two sets Thursday, the Gustavus volleyball team was on the verge of ending its season and dropping the first match at home in two years. Instead, the Gusties got gritty and battled tooth and nail to steal a five-set victory over St. Thomas to advance to the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Playoff Championship. The Gusties dropped the first two sets 25-16, 29-27, but went on to claim victories of 25-22, 25-22, and 15-10. Gustavus now hosts Bethel at 7 p.m. Saturday in a rematch of last year’s MIAC Playoff Championship.

Holtan Headlines MIAC Volleyball Awards, Four Gusties Named All-Conference

The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its 2016 Volleyball Awards on Wednesday and Gustavus took home four All-Conference awards, as well as the top honor of Player-of-the-Year. In just her sophomore campaign, Nora Holtan (Rochester, Minn.) earns MIAC Player-of-the-Year after a stellar season. Lauren Hanson (So., Redwood Falls, Minn.), Brittany Luethmers (So., Prior Lake, Minn.), and Taylor Trautman (Sr., Hutchinson, Minn.) join Holtan on the 2016 All-Conference Team, marking the third time in program history that four Gusties were selected.

Volleyball Locks Up No. 2 Seed For MIAC Playoffs, Holtan Reaches 2,000-Assist Mark

The Gustavus volleyball team Wednesday locked up the No. 2 seed and a first round bye in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Playoffs with a shutout victory over Hamline University. The Gusties defeated the Pipers 25-20, 25-17, 25-23 to improve to 21-6 overall and 9-1 in the MIAC.

The Gustavus volleyball team won its fifth straight Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match Saturday afternoon, defeating Saint Benedict in four sets 25-21, 25-23, 22-25, 25-15, improving to 20-6 overall and 8-1 in the league.

The Gustavus volleyball team escaped with a five-set victory over Buena Vista University on Tuesday night, improving to 18-6 overall. The Gusties won the non-conference match by scores of 25-16, 25-13, 21-25, 25-27, 15-9.
