Allie Schwab Named MIAC Women’s Hockey Player Of The Year, Three Other Gusties Awarded All-Conference

The accolades keep rolling in for the Gustavus women’s hockey team as four Gusties garnered MIAC All-Conference honors. Highlighting the conference’s post-season awards is senior forward Allie Schwab (Stillwater, Minn.) who was named MIAC Player-of-the-Year. Senior Mollie Carroll (Eagan, Minn.), sophomore Amanda Cartony (Stillwater, Minn.) and junior Lindsey Hjelm (North Oaks, Minn.) were also named All-Conference.

Fourth-Ranked Women’s Hockey Still Unbeaten, Tops No. 9 Concordia 4-1

In a battle of the top two MIAC women’s hockey teams, No. 4 Gustavus defeated No. 9 Concordia 4-1 Friday night in Moorhead, Minn. The Gusties remain the sole unbeaten team in Division III at 14-0-1 overall and 9-0-0 in the MIAC, while the Cobbers fall to 9-3-2 on the year and 5-2-2 in league play.

The Gustavus women’s hockey team started its second half of the season with a convincing 6-0 shutout against the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Friday night in Stevens Point, Wis. Senior forward Allie Schwab led the way for the victors with her second-career hat trick, improving the Gusties to 10-0-1 overall.

Women’s Hockey Sweeps Augsburg 7-2, Wins Eighth-Straight

The Gustavus women’s hockey team completed the regular season series sweep over Augsburg Saturday afternoon with a 7-2 win in St. Peter, Minn. Seven different Gusties tallied a goal improving their record to 8-0-0 overall, while picking up two points in the MIAC standings with a 6-0-0 league mark.

Mackley, Hjelm, Peterson, And Schwab Named To Women’s Hockey All-Conference Team

Four members of the Gustavus women’s hockey team were named to the 2010 All-Conference Team by the league coaches this past week. First year Lindsey Hjelm (North Oaks, Minn.), senior Melissa Mackley (Burnsville, Minn.), junior Kirstin Peterson (St. Paul, Minn.), and sophomore Allie Schwab (Stillwater, Minn.) were bestowed All-Conference Team honors.
