Five Gusties Named To CoSIDA Academic All-District V College Division At-Large Teams

Five Gustavus Adolphus College student athletes have been recognized as the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) released the 2009 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District V College Division At-Large Teams. Kimbra Kosak (women's golf), Melissa Mackley (women's hockey), David Martinson (men's hockey) and Dave Pearson (men's swimming and diving) were named to the first team, while John Kauss (men's tennis) was honored on the second team.

John Kauss Wins ITA Division III Singles Title

Gustavus men's tennis player John Kauss (Sr., St. Paul, Minn./Harding) defeated Chris Goodwin of Emory University 6-2, 6-3 to claim the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division III Singles Championship on Saturday morning in Mobile, Alabama. Kauss is the first Gustavus men's tennis player to win the ITA Division III national singles title. John Kauss Advances To ITA Small College Championship, Kauss and Mike Burdakin Take Second

Gustavus men's tennis player, John Kauss, continued moving through the singles draw at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Small College Championships on Friday in Mobile, Alabama. Kauss surprised the singles field by upsetting top-seeded John Watts of Washington University (St. Louis, Missouri) in straight sets 6-4, 6-3. Later in the day, Kauss and Mike Burdakin took second place in the doubles portion as the duo lost to Chris Goodwin and Michael Goodwin of Emory University 7-6 (3), 6-1.

Kauss and Burdakin Advance in Singles and Doubles Play At ITA Championships

John Kauss and Mike Burdakin, members of the Gustavus men's tennis team, had a strong showing at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Small College Championships on Thursday. Kauss moved on to the semifinal round in singles play, while Kauss teamed up with Burdakin to advance to the finals in doubles. Kauss enters the singles draw seeded fourth, while Burdakin and Kauss are unseeded in doubles. The tournament is being held at the Copeland-Cox Tennis Center in Mobile, Alabama.
