Volleyball Hands Saint Ben’s First MIAC Loss

In a battle of undefeated teams in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, the No. 10 Gustavus volleyball team bounced back after a first set loss to beat Saint Benedict in four, 20-25, 25-7, 25-17, 25-23, extending its winning streak to 15 while improving to 23-2 overall and 9-0 in the league.

No. 10 Volleyball Tops Concordia, Holtan Breaks Career Assists Record

History was made Friday night at Gus Young Court. With her third assist of the match, Nora Holtan (Sr., Rochester, Minn.) broke a 22-year old record for most career assists in Gustavus volleyball history, surpassing Jess Lobben’s (1993-96) mark of 4,201. The No. 10-ranked Gusties went on to defeat Concordia in four sets 27-25, 25-15, 20-25, 25-14 for their 14th consecutive win, improving to 22-2 overall and 8-0 in the MIAC.

Volleyball Hosts Two Conference Contests this Weekend

The No. 10 Gustavus volleyball team is set to host its final two regular season home contests this weekend. The Gusties enter the matches with a 21-2 record overall and a 7-0 mark in the MIAC. They take on Concordia (8-14, 4-3 MIAC) on Friday at 7 p.m. and St. Benedict (20-5, 7-0 MIAC) on Saturday at 5 p.m.

Volleyball Wins Pair of 3-0 Matches at St. Kate’s Tourney

The No. 11 Gustavus volleyball team looked every part of its national ranking Saturday, claiming two convincing straight-set victories at the St. Kate’s tournament. The Gusties defeated UC-Santa Cruz 25-9, 25-13, 25-16 and followed by beating Luther 25-17, 25-19, 25-18 to extend their winning streak to 13 matches. The Gusties are now 21-2 overall.

No. 11 Volleyball Visits St. Thomas Wednesday Night

The No. 11 Gustavus volleyball team pays a visit to MIAC foe St. Thomas Wednesday night. The Gusties, who are coming off a 3-0 weekend at the UW-Whitewater tournament, enter the match 18-2 overall and 6-0 in the MIAC, while the Tommies are 16-6 overall and 5-1 in the league.

Volleyball Shuts Out St. Olaf

The No. 10 Gustavus volleyball team Thursday night claimed its fifth consecutive straight-set victory, defeating St. Olaf 25-23, 25-20, 25-21 to improve to 15-2 overall and remain undefeated in the MIAC at 6-0. The Gusties played from behind in all three sets, but were able to string together rallies for the shutout victory.

Volleyball Blanks St. Kate’s, Luethmers Eclipses 2,000 Career Digs

The No. 11 Gustavus volleyball team claimed its fourth consecutive straight-set MIAC victory Saturday at St. Catherine. The Gusties won by scores of 25-15, 25-19, and 25-16 to improve to 14-2 overall and 5-0 in the MIAC.

Volleyball Runs Away with Straight-Set Victory at Carleton

The No. 12 Gustavus volleyball team made quick work of Carleton on Wednesday night, winning in straight sets 25-14, 25-22, and 25-10. The victory moves the Gusties to 11-2 overall and 2-0 in the MIAC, while the Knights fall to 10-2 overall and 1-1 in the league.

Volleyball Hosts Hamline Wednesday Night in MIAC Opener

The No. 9 Gustavus volleyball team finally gets to play at the friendly confines of Gus Young Court tonight as it hosts Hamline in the MIAC opener at 7 p.m. The Gusties are 7-1 overall after winning the Loras Invitational last weekend, while the Pipers are 5-1, most recently defeating Marian 3-0 last Saturday.

Volleyball Wins Loras Invite, Defeats No. 14 Northwestern and Loras

The No. 9 Gustavus volleyball team completed a perfect 4-0 run at the Loras Invitational on Saturday, defeating No. 14 Northwestern-St. Paul in five sets followed by a 3-1 win over host Loras to improve to 7-1 overall. The Gusties won their first two matches at the invitational on Friday night as well.
