Men’s Tennis Tripped Up by Top-Ranked Emory 6-3 in ITA Third-Place Match

Men’s Tennis Team Hosting ITA Division III Indoor Championship This Weekend

Gustavus Adolphus College is set to host the seventh annual Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) National Division III Indoor Championship at the Swanson Tennis Center in St. Peter, Minnesota. Eight of the top 25 teams in Division III tennis will play off to determine the 2007 ITA National Indoor Champion. Three-time and defending champion Gustavus will defend its title as the #2 seed. 2004 and 2005 ITA Indoor champion Emory University will be the #1 seed.

Burdakin and Paukert Fourth, Brauer Seventh at ITA National Small College Championships

Gustavus Adolphus men's tennis players Mike Burdakin and Charlie Paukert finished fourth in the NCAA Division III bracket after a pair of losses Friday at the ITA National Small College Championships at Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers. Senior Jesse Brauer lost a consolation semifinal match Friday morning and defeated New York University's Mikhail Gurevich in three sets for seventh place on Saturday.

Men’s Tennis Sends Three to ITA National Small College Championships

Gustavus Adolphus men's tennis players Jesse Brauer, Mike Burdakin and Charlie Paukert will participate in the 2006 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) National Small College Championships October 12-15 at Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers. The overall ITA "Super Bowl" of Small College Tennis champions on Oct. 15 will earn wild cards into the Nov. 2-5 ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships, hosted by The Ohio State University in Columbus.

Brauer, Burdakin and Paukert Take Titles at ITA Midwest Regional

Host Gustavus Adolphus captured both the singles and doubles titles at this weekend's Wilson/ITA Midwest Region Championships at the Brown Outdoor Courts in St. Peter. The fifth-seeded tandem of Mike Burdakin and Charlie Paukert took the doubles title over top-seeded Gusties Jesse Brauer and Andy Bryan, while Brauer needed a third-set tie-breaker to defeat Bryan for the singles title. Brauer, Burdakin and Paukert advance to the ITA National Small College Championships Oct. 12-15 in Fort Myers, Fla.

Men’s Tennis Set to Host Wilson/ITA Midwest Regional This Weekend

Gustavus Adolphus College is hosting the 2006 Wilson/ITA Men's Division III Midwest Region Championships, one of the 61 Wilson/ITA Regional Championships played across the country over the last three weeks of September. Championship play will take place Friday, Sept. 29 through Sunday, Oct. 1 at the Swanson Indoor Tennis Center and the Brown Outdoor Courts in St. Peter.
