Adam Biewen (Jr., Golden Valley) had the best pitching performance of his collegiate career on May 2, tossing a complete-game shutout against then-conference leading Bethel. Biewen allowed just two hits in the nine-inning shutout while striking out eight batters.
Eight Tennis Student-Athletes Earn CSC Academic All-District Honors
The 2023 Academic All-District Men’s and Women’s Tennis Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA), were released Tuesday and eight Gustavus student-athletes received recognition for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.
Nelson Named MIAC Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week
Birgen Nelson shattered the NCAA Division III 100-hurdles record in the preliminary round of the Maverick Open with an all-conditions time of 13.32. Nelson clocked a 13.62 in the finals to win the event. Nelson also set new facility and meet records in the 400-hurdles with a time of 1:00.19. That time ranks first in the MIAC and second in Division III this season.
Gutuza Headlines Men’s Golf Awards as Rookie of the Year
The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced its men’s golf awards on Monday and the Gusties placed four on the All-Conference list, highlighted by first-year Chris Gutuza, who was named MIAC Rookie of the Year. Wyatt Wasko, Teddy Kaste, and Sam Skaar also earned the All-Conference nod.

Men’s Tennis Upsets University of Chicago, Advances to NCAA Elite Eight
The Gusties had a tall order ahead of them to advance to the NCAA Elite Eight. Facing off against the defending national champions for the third time this season, the Gusties made their NCAA third round count, defeating the Maroons in a 5-4 thriller to win the Regional Championship. The victory sends the Gusties to the round of eight in the tournament, which will be hosted in Orlando this coming weekend.
Men’s Tennis Advances to NCAA Third Round with 5-1 Victory
The Gustavus men's tennis team defeated No. 23 UW-Whitewater 5-1 to advance to the third round of the NCAA Tournament. The Gusties and the Warhawks are familiar foes, as Gustavus defeated Whitewater 5-3 earlier this season. The Gusties brought the same energy to the second round NCAA matchup, sweeping the doubles competition 3-0 and getting wins in the No. 5 and No. 6 singles to seal the victory.
Men’s Tennis Gears Up for NCAA Regionals
Gustavus Adolphus College is set to host the first, second, and third rounds of the NCAA Championships Friday through Sunday, welcoming some of the best talent in Division III to Saint Peter for the regional with first serve to take place this Friday.
