Gusties Dominate Second Half, Defeat Luther 84-50

The Gustavus women’s basketball team — who headed into the two-week winter break on a three-game winning streak — stayed red hot after the hiatus, rolling to a non-conference victory over Luther, 84-50. A strong second half drove the victory, as the Gusties put up a scoring run of 16 points in the third and built their lead to as many as 36 in the fourth.

Anderson, Sanders Earn United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-America

United Soccer Coaches released its 2022 NCAA Division III Scholar All-Americans on Thursday and two Gustavus student-athletes received recognition. Keeper Wesley Sanders (Sr., Urbandale, Iowa) was selected to the First Team and defender Otis Anderson (Jr., Minneapolis) was named to the Second Team.

Birgen Nelson (Sr., Edina) has been selected the USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week after her record-setting performance at the University of Minnesota Ice Breaker Open last Friday

Swanson Selected to D3hoops.com Team of the Week

Swanson has been named to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week. Swanson is just the second Gustie to earn the D3hoops.com weekly honor, joining Doug Espenson, who earned the award in consecutive weeks in 2005. 

Swanson Named MIAC Men’s Basketball Athlete of the Week

Spencer Swanson (So., Waconia) had a career week for Gustavus men's basketball, leading the team in scoring in a 94-87 win over St. Olaf (12/7) and an 84-81 win over Augsburg (12/10).

McCoy Named MIAC Women’s Hockey Player of the Week

Katie McCoy posted her third straight shutout — making a season-high 32 saves against No. 2 River Falls on Wednesday. McCoy followed this up with a 26-save effort in the Gusties' loss to the Falcons on Saturday. For her performance, McCoy was named MIAC Women’s Hockey Defensive Player of the Week for the second straight week.

Men’s Hockey Cruises Past Concordia-Wisconsin 8-2

The Gustavus men's hockey team is off the schneid after a convincing 8-2 win over Concordia-Wisconsin on Saturday night at Don Roberts Ice Rink. The eight goals are the most scored by Gustavus since an 8-4 win over Augsburg on Jan. 24, 2009.
