Softball Extends Win Streak To 18, Sweeps Saint Mary’s 2-0, 3-2

The Gustavus softball team swept Saint Mary's by scores of 2-0 and 3-2 on Thursday afternoon in St. Peter to extend its winning streak to 16 games. The Gusties are now 22-2 overall and 12-0 in the MIAC. Leading the way for the Gusties was senior pitcher Joyce DeWitz who pitched two complete games and allowed just nine hits while striking out 13. Julie Mahre and Emily Klien sparked the Gustie offensive attack as each player had three hits in the doubleheader.

Softball Sweeps Hamline 4-0, 6-0 And Extends Win Streak To 14 Games

The Gustavus softball team swept Hamline by the scores of 4-0 and 6-0 on Tuesday afternoon in St. Peter and extended its winning streak to 14 games. The Gusties improved to 18-2 overall and 10-0 in the MIAC. Joyce DeWitz pitched two complete games on the mound for Gustavus scattering seven hits and striking out 14, while not allowing a run. Erin Ge led the offensive attack with four hits in five at-bats and two RBI in the doubleheader.

Softball Lands Four On All-Conference Team

Four Gustavus Adolphus College softball players were honored Monday as the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its 2006 MIAC softball awards. Senior Audrey Lenoch, junior Joyce DeWitz, sophomore Julie Mahre, and first-year Rachael Click were named to the all-conference team.

DeWitz Named MIAC Softball Pitcher of the Week

Gustavus Adolphus College softball player Joyce DeWitz (Good Thunder, Minn.) has been named Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week for the week ending April 2, 2006. DeWitz, a junior, compiled a 4-1 record with a earned run average of 0.93 as she allowed 17 hits and four earned runs in 30.2 innings of work while striking out 30 and walking 15.
