The Gustavus football team put together a strong all-around effort on Saturday to take down Hamline 69-21. The 69-point effort sets the Gustavus football program record for most points in a game. The Gusties scored 69 points against NPI in 1979, however, it went as an exhibition as NPI was not an NCAA institution. With the win the Gusties improve to 4-2 overall and 2-2 in the MIAC while the Pipers move to 1-6 overall and 0-5 in the conference.

Michael Veldman (Sr., Becker) took a snap and ended up scrambling left from the pocket before unleashing a deep ball on the run that traveled 50 yards in the air and was caught by Josh Kirk (Sr., Garvin) on the left sideline, which he was able to take in for the score.

Football Earns 500th All-Time Win in Shutout Fashion, 42-0 Over Augsburg

Another strong defensive performance paired with a scoring outburst in the first half propelled the Gustavus football team to a 42-0 shutout victory over Augsburg on Saturday afternoon at Hollingsworth Field. The convincing win marks the 500th all-time victory for the Gustavus football program, which is in its 102nd season. Gustavus is now one of 57 NCAA Division III institutions with at least 500 wins.
