Defensive Effort Gives Volleyball Thrilling 3-2 Win Over Concordia
The 20th-ranked Gustavus volleyball team defeated its second ranked opponent of the week in a 3-2 win (25-21, 25-23, 25-27, 21-25, 15-10) over No. 12 Concordia on Friday in St. Peter. The Gustie back row players were able to withstand the Cobber offensive attack as Coach Kari Eckheart's squad compiled 134 digs. With the win, the Gusties clinched a spot in the MIAC Post-Season Tournament as they improved to 7-2 in the league and 23-3 overall.
Women’s Soccer Opens MIAC Play With 1-1 Draw Against Concordia
On a rainy afternoon in St. Peter, Minn., the Gustavus women's soccer team opened up its Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play with a 1-1 (2 OT) draw against the Cobbers from Concordia-Moorhead. Junior forward Chelsea Craven opened the scoring for the Gusties early in the second half only to have Concordia's Maia Johnson tie the game 18 minutes later.

Solid pitching and timely hitting helped the Gustavus softball team keep pace in the MIAC standings by sweeping Concordia 7-0 and 3-0 on Wednesday in St. Peter. Callie Nelsen, Betsie Collins, and Erin Truebenbach combined to strikeout 26 Cobber hitters in the doubleheader, while a three-run home run from Julie Mahre was a highlight in game one.

The Gustavus baseball team moved to 4-0 in conference play with a doubleheader sweep against Concordia in Moorhead on Sunday afternoon. The Gusties scored five times in the fifth inning and twice in the seventh inning to win game one 9-8 and then used timely hitting and a great pitching performance from Adam Bren to claim game two 3-1.
Men’s Hockey Defeats Concordia 10-1, Will Host First Round Of MIAC Playoffs
The Gustavus men's hockey team exploded for six goals in the first period and rolled to a 10-1 win over Concordia on Saturday afternoon at Don Roberts Ice Rink in St. Peter, Minn. With the win, the Gusties clinched at least a tie for fourth place in the final MIAC standings and earned the #4 seed in the MIAC Post-Season Tournament. Gustavus will now host #5 seed Saint John's on Thursday, Feb. 28. Time has not yet been determined.

The 2007-08 Gustavus women's hockey team became the first team to finish the MIAC women's hockey season 18-0-0 after defeating Concordia 7-1 in Moorhead on Saturday. Both squads were tied 1-1 midway through the second period until the Gusties scored two goals in 1:40 for a 3-1 lead and never looked back. Gustavus, which is ranked #3 in the recent USCHO.com Division III poll, finished the regular season at 23-2-0 overall. Concordia fell to 10-11-2 overall and 10-6-2 in league play.
