Volleyball Finishes 2-0 After First Day of Border Battle
The Gustavus volleyball team posted a 2-0 record after defeating both Luther College and Buena Vista University 3-1 on the first day of the MIAC-IIAC Border Battle in Mount Vernon, Iowa. The 21st-ranked Gusties improved their overall record to 18-3 with the victories. Head coach Kari Eckheart's squad will wrap up the Border Battle against Cornell College and the University of Dubuque on Saturday.
Volleyball Finishes Border Battle With A 3-1 Record Thanks To Two Wins On Saturday
The Gustavus volleyball team picked up two wins at the IIAC-MIAC Border Battle with 3-1 victories over Coe and Buena Vista in Indianola, Iowa on Saturday. Four players finished with double-digit kills in both matches to help the Gusties overcome injuries to add to the win column. Bridget Burtzel compiled 99 assists and 25 digs for the day. Gustavus improves to 14-6 overall after playing four matches in 24-hours.
Volleyball 3-1 at Border Battle Tournament
The Gustavus volleyball team had a successful weekend, registering a 3-1 record at the MIAC-IIAC Border Battle Tournament. The Gusties, one of four teams that finished with a 3-1 mark, opened the tournament with a 3-1 win over Luther on Friday afternoon before falling to Simpson 3-2 on Friday evening. Gustavus responded Saturday with victories over University of Dubuque (3-2) and Loras (3-0). Gustie junior Becca Thompson was named to the seven-member All-Tournament Team by the coaches.
Volleyball to Host Border Battle with Iowa Conference This Weekend
The Gustavus volleyball team will host the Minnesota-Iowa Border Battle Tournament this Friday and Saturday October 7-8. The tournament consists of matchups between four Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) teams and four Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) teams. Matches begin on Friday afternoon and end Saturday evening.
