Gustavus Set to Induct Nine New Members into Athletics Hall of Fame
The Gustavus Adolphus College Department of Athletics has chosen nine individuals for induction into its Athletics Hall of Fame. The 2021 inductees include Beth DeLaRosby ’05 (swimming & diving), Doug Espenson ’05 (basketball), Tara Houlihan Whiting ’06 (tennis/volleyball), Bobby Kroog ’06 (soccer), Audrey Lenoch ’06 (softball), Lyndsey Palen Crossley ’06 (tennis), Amanda Parker ’05 (gymnastics), Ben Sherer ’06 (baseball), and Tom Thorkelson ’70 (coach).
Roy Bryan, Ben Sherer Selected to Receive NCAA Postgraduate Scholarships
Gustavus Adolphus College student athletes Roy Bryan (tennis) and Ben Sherer (baseball) have been selected as two of 58 student-athletes from across the country to receive a NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship for the spring sport season. Sherer and Bryan were the only male student-athletes from a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference institution selected to receive the $7,500 award this spring.
Baseball Player Ben Sherer Named to Academic All-District Team
Gustavus Adolphus College senior Ben Sherer of Bismarck, North Dakota has been named to the College Sports Information Directors Association(CoSIDA)/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 5 First Team for baseball for the third consecutive year. Sherer, a first baseman for the Gusties, is a four-year starter who has compiled a 3.96 grade point average with a major in biology.
