Kopp Claims NCGA Floor Championship With Program Record 9.85
After becoming an All-American in the all-around Friday at the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) Championships, Alex Kopp (Jr., Wayzata, Minn.) continued to impress Saturday during the individual events. Kopp tied for first on the floor with a program record 9.850, claiming the 32nd national event title in program history. Kopp is the first Gustie to win a national event since Alyssa Cox won the vault in 2003, and first to win the floor (eighth overall) since Molly Nemes in 2001.

Gustavus gymnast Alex Kopp (Jr., Wayzata, Minn.) etched her name among elite company in a decorated program Friday at the NCGA Championships. Kopp placed ninth in the all-around competition to earn All-America honors, becoming the 52nd Gusties to do so, while attaining the 94th All-America award in program history.

The Gustavus gymnastics team took eighth place at the WIAC Championships/NCGA Regional on Friday evening with a season-high score of 184.475, which is also the second highest team score in program history. The conference championship also proved to be a memorable night for the Gusties with five individual career-highs, six season-highs, and two program records.

The regular season for the Gustavus gymnastics team ended on a high note Saturday, as it tallied the second best team score in program history at the Best of Minnesota Meet, hosted by the University of Minnesota. The Gusties tied for third place out of four teams with a season-high score of 184.300. The host Gophers took first with a score of 196.200, while Winona State took second at 184.825, and Hamline tied the Gusties at 184.300.

The Gustavus gymnastics team defeated Winona State 180.775-180.200 on Tuesday night, marking its first victory since 2013 and its highest score since 2004 when the Gusties totaled 187.425 at the NCGA Nationals. For the second meet in a row, Alex Kopp (Jr., Wayzata, Minn.) won the all-around as she scored a 37.150. Kopp took first place in three of four events, scoring a 9.550 on the vault, 9.425 on the balance beam, and a 9.475 on the floor.
