Men’s Golfer A.J. Olson Named All-America Scholar By GCAA
Gustavus Adolphus College men’s golfer A.J. Olson (Sr., White Bear Lake, Minn.) has been recognized by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) as a Division III Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar for his play on the links as well as his work in the classroom. Olson ranked third on the team with a 77.2 scoring average during the 2009-10 season while keeping up to par in the classroom with a 3.67 cumulative grade-point average.
A.J. Olson Named MIAC Men’s Golf Athlete of the Week
Gustavus Adolphus College senior A.J. Olson has been named MIAC Men's Golf Athlete of the Week for his efforts at the Bobby Krig Invitational on Sunday and Monday. Olson finished second individually and recorded the low score for a MIAC golfer with his total of 74-69-72–215 (-1). Olson's second round score of 69 at Le Sueur Country Club on Monday tied for his career best 18-hole round, while his 54-hole total of 215 was the best of his career.
Men’s Golf Finishes Second At Bobby Krig Invitational
The Gustavus men's golf team fired a 54-hole total of 302-293-290--885 and finished second out of 13 teams at its own Bobby Krig Invitational on Monday afternoon. Saint John's finished first with score of 296-287-288--871. The Gusties A.J. Olson finished second individually with a total of 74-69-72--215 (-1).
Women’s Golf Wins MIAC Title In Convincing Fashion, While Men Finish Strong To Tie For Second
The Gustavus women's golf team pulled away from the field and won its second consecutive MIAC Championship by a convincing 46 strokes, while the men shot a final round 300 to tie for second with St. Thomas. The women's team was led by Katie Schenfeld, who claimed medalist honors with a 54-hole total of 80-78-78--236, while A.J. Olson and Alex Kolquist tied for third at 223 to lead the men.
