Track & Field Women Take Fifth at Macalester, Men Sixth

The women claimed 68 points for fifth place out of 18 teams, while the men collected 46 points for sixth place out of 15 teams.

Madi Kes and Josh Beiswanger were named MIAC Outdoor Field Athletes of the Week, the MIAC announced Tuesday afternoon. 

Gustie Impress at Lee Krough Invitational

The Gustavus track & field teams hosted the annual Lee Krough Invitational Sunday, and picked up a handful of impressive performances across the board. 12 different Gustie performances earned a spot in the top-five conference list, while Madi Kes made a dent in the national standings. Gustavus picked up wins in 15 running events and nine field events. 

Poe Named MIAC Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week

Annika Poe (Sr., Big Lake) won the shot put at the Bethel Invitational over the weekend with a throw of 13.65 meters (44' 9.5"), a whole two meters better than the rest of the field. Poe's mark is the best in the conference this season and currently ranks 12th in NCAA Division III. For her performance, Poe was named MIAC Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.

Track & Field Has Record Setting Day at Bethel Invite

The Gustavus men's and women's track & field teams competed at the Bethel Invitational on a cold and windy Saturday, coming away with one school record and six event winners. 

Nelson Named MIAC Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week

Birgen Nelson won the 100-meter hurdles at the Duke Invitational in Durham, N.C. on 4/8. Racing against a field of Division I athletes, Nelson won with a time of 13.88, which is currently the fastest in NCAA Division III this season. Nelson competed at Colorado College on 4/4 as well, winning the 100-hurdles in 14.07. Nelson also won the 100-meter in 12.19, which currently ranks first in the MIAC. Nelson finished the meet as a member the winning 4x100 relay team with a time of 48.92, which ranks second in the MIAC.

Gusties Open Outdoor Season at Colorado College

After a long winter on the indoor track, the Gusties finally escaped the April snow of Minnesota, opening their outdoor season with a small group of athletes competing in a dual meet at Colorado College.

Birgen Nelson Wins 60H National Championship, Poe Earns All-America

The Gustavus senior hurdler Saturday claimed her second career national championship, winning the 60-hurdles at the NCAA Indoor Championships with a meet record time of 8.39.
