Janey Helland and Whitaker Davis Celebrated As 2010-11 Student Athletes of the Year

The Gustavus Adolphus College Athletics Department has announced the 2010-11 Female and Male Athletes of the Year and they are Janey Helland, a track and field competitor from Mapleton, Minnesota and Whitaker Davis, a swimmer from Palatine, Illinois.

Sports Information Director Tim Kennedy Accepts New Role As Assistant Vice President

Tim Kennedy, a 1982 graduate of Gustavus, who has served as the Sports Information at the College for the past 25 years has accepted the position of Assistant Vice President and Director of Multimedia Innovation in the division of Marketing and Communication. Taking up the post June 1, 2011, Kennedy will serve as the College's key communication strategist with the offices of Admission and Advancement, promoting the College's academic excellence and distinctive attributes to key constituents.

Football Team Set To Leave For Service Trip To Mexico

The Gustavus football team will be traveling to Cancun, Mexico for a five-day trip that will combine football, service, and some fun. The team will depart Wednesday, May 25 and return Monday, May 30. The trip will include several clinics, an exhibition game, a service trip to an orphanage, and a sightseeing trip to Isla de Mujeres.

Men’s Golf Misses Cut at NCAA Championships, Kolquist Wins Playoff To Continue Individually

The Gustavus men's golf team suffered an abrupt end to its 2011 season when it missed the cut on Wednesday afternoon at the NCAA Championships. The Gusties fired a second round total of 302 for a 36-hole total of 601, which was one stroke back of a three-way tie for 14th place as the tournament field was cut to the low 15 team scores after 36 holes.

Women’s Golf Wins Weather Shortened St. Thomas Invite

The Gustavus women's golf team finished first at the St. Thomas Invitational on Sunday with an 18-hole total of 320. Individually, Katie Schenfeld finished first with a four-over par total of 76 and Taylor Drenttel finished second with a total of 77.

Kirstin Peterson Named To Women’s Hockey All-America Team

Gustavus senior defender Kirstin Peterson was named to the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) All-America team today. The announcement was made at the team banquet at the NCAA Women’s Division III Frozen Four in Rochester, New York.

Sara Yungner Named Elite 88 Award Winner At NCAA Women’s Hockey Championship

Gustavus senior defender Sara Yungner (Maple Grove, Minn./Wayzata) was named the winner of the 2011 Elite 88 Award at the NCAA Women's Ice Hockey Championship banquet in Rochester, New York on Thursday night. The Elite 88 Award honors the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade point average participating at the finals site of each of the NCAA's national championships.

Student Athlete Advisory Board To Collect Food For St. Peter Food Shelf This Weekend

The Gustavus Student Athlete Advisory Board will be collecting non-perishable food and cash donations at the entrance to all Gustie athletics events this weekend to support the local St. Peter Food Shelf. Gustavus women's hockey will play at home on Friday night, followed by men's and women's basketball on Saturday afternoon and men's hockey on Saturday night.
