Gustavus Adolphus junior Andy Klaers finished 11th in the discus throw at the 2006 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships taking place at Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois. Klaers, who was seeded 16th entering the championships, had a top effort of 156-5.

Gustavus Adolphus junior baseball player Tony Konicek has been named to the Rawlings/NCAA Division III All-Midwest Region First Team by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA). Konicek, a center fielder, also received the Max Molock Award as the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference’s Most Valuable Player after leading the league in a number of offensive categories.

The Gustavus Adolphus women’s track and field team finished second while the men’s team finished third as this year’s MIAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships wrapped up Saturday at O’Shaughnessy Stadium on the campus of University of St. Thomas in St. Paul.
