Men’s Swimming Tops MSU, Mankato 169-113, But Women Fall to Mavericks 132-168

The Gustavus men's swimming team opened its 2006 dual meet schedule with a 169-113 win over Minnesota State University, Mankato, while the Gustavus women's swimming team dropped its dual opener to MSU, Mankato 132-168. The meet was held at the Lund Natatorium on the Gustavus Adolphus College campus.

Six Men’s Swimmers Earn All-America Honors; Four Others Named Honorable Mention

The Gustavus Adolphus College men's swimming and diving team had six swimmers earn All-America honors at the 2006 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships. The championships took place March 16-18 at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The swimmers include juniors Brian Amundson and Scott Hagemeyer, sophomore Ben Hanson, and freshmen Clement Auyeung, Matt Stewart and Tyler Wakefield.

Men’s Swimming and Diving Breaks Four School Records, Finishes 11th at NCAA Championships

The Gustavus men's swimming and diving team used a sixth in the 400 free relay, an eighth in the 1650 free and a tie for ninth in the 100 free to solidify its position as one of the top programs in the country at the 2006 NCAA Division III Men's Swimming and Diving Championships, which ended Saturday at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center in Minneapolis. The Gusties finished 11th with 118 points, just 1.5 points behind tenth place Tufts University.

Men’s Swimming and Diving Enters Final Day of NCAA Championships in 11th Place

The Gustavus men's swimming and diving team posted an 11th, a 12th and a 13th-place finish during day two of the 2006 NCAA Division III Men's Swimming and Diving Championships to remain in the mix for a top ten team finish. The Gusties enter the final day of competition in 11th place with 70 points, just a pair of markers ahead of The College of New Jersey in 12th place. Gustavus will compete in five of seven events on Saturday, including the 400 freestyle relay, where it has the third-best seed time.

Led by an eighth place finish by the 200 freestyle relay, the Gustavus men's swimming and diving team finds itself in tenth place following the first day of the 2006 NCAA Division III Men's Swimming and Diving Championships. The Gusties have accumulated 44.5 points through six events. Kenyon has a commanding lead over the field, posting 158 points on day one.

13 Gusties Capture All-MIAC Honors in Men’s Swimming and Diving

A total of 13 Gustavus men's swimmers have captured All-MIAC honors following the recent MIAC Swimming and Diving Championships. Junior Scott Hagemeyer led the way, picking up honors in seven events, while fellow junior Brian Amundson and freshman Matt Stewart each captured honors in six events. Sophomore Ben Hanson, who was the only Gustie to post wins in multiple individual events, pulled down honors in five events and repeated as MIAC Swimmer of the Meet.

Hanson Repeats as MIAC Men’s Swimmer of the Year

Gustavus Adolphus sophomore swimmer Ben Hanson (Minnetonka,Minn.) has been named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men's Swimmer of the Year for the second consecutive season following a three-win individual performance at the MIAC Swimming and Diving Championships last weekend. Hanson defended the 200-yard, 500-yard, and 1650-yard freestyle titles he won a year ago.

Men’s Swimming and Diving Captures Fifth Straight MIAC Title

The Gustavus Adolphus men's swimming and diving team captured its fifth consecutive Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship Saturday evening, outdistancing league rival St. Olaf 867-802. Saint John's finished a distant third with 501 points, while Carleton racked up 425 points to finish fourth.

Men Remain in First, Women Still Second After Day Two of the MIAC Swimming and Diving Championships

Both the women's and men's standings remain intact following the second day of the 2006 MIAC Swimming and Diving Championships at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center in Minneapolis. Gustavus leads the men's race with 555 points, just ahead of St. Olaf (536). The Ole women lead the field with 515.5 points, while the Gustie women (395) are just ahead of Carleton (389.5). Team champions will be crowned Saturday evening as action concludes.
