Men’s Golf Takes Second At Frank Wrigglesworth Blugold Invite

The Gustavus men’s golf team took second place out of 16 teams at the Frank Wrigglesworth Blugold Invitational, hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire on Sunday and Monday. The Gusties shot team scores of 303 on both days for a total of 606 (+34), which was 10 strokes behind the winner, UW-Eau Claire.

Going up against a competitive field at the Transylvania Fall Invite, the Gustavus men’s golf team finished in third place out of 16 teams with a three-round score of 305-292-294-891 (+27). Greensboro won the event with an 868, while Wittenberg took second with an 877.

The Gustavus men’s golf team sits in third place after day one at the Transylvania Fall Invitational, played at the University Club of Kentucky. The Gusties shot a 597, 21-over par Saturday, which is 15 strokes behind the leader, Greensboro. Wittenberg is two stroke behind in second.

Men’s Golf Alum Neil Johnson Cashes In Big At Colorado Open

2004 Gustavus graduate Neil Johnson finished his collegiate career as a four-time All-American and was a team member of a national championship. He has since played golf professionally for the past decade and last Sunday marked the biggest win of his career. Johnson won the CoBank Colorado Open, which included a field of players who had previously been on the PGA Tour.

58 Gusties Recognized As MIAC Winter-Spring Academic All-Conference

Remarkably, student-athletes in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) keep finding ways to achieve both in their chosen sports and in the classroom at ever-improving rates. For the first time in MIAC history, the conference recognized more than 1,000 student-athletes with Academic All-Conference honors. Gustavus has 58 student-athletes recognized as Winter-Spring Academic All-Conference.

Three Men’s Golfers Named To All-MIAC Team; Savini Named Conference and Region Freshman of the Year

Gustavus Adolphus College men's golfers Andrew Krasaway (Sr., Hermantown, Minn.), Chris Captain (So., Rochester, Minn.), and Max Savini (Fy., Anoka, Minn.) were named to the MIAC's All-Conference Team that was announced Monday by the conference office. Savini also was named MIAC Freshman of the Year and the ** Region Freshman of the Year. The honor is the second for Captain and the first for Krasaway and Savini.

Krasaway, Sonnesyn Named April Student-Athletes-Of-The-Month

Senior golfer Andrew Krasaway (Hermantown, Minn.) and senior distance runner Marit Sonnesyn (Plymouth, Minn.) have been selected as the Gustavus Adolphus College April Male and Female Student-Athletes-of-the-Month, presented by Thrivent Financial and voted on by the Gustavus Sports Information Department.

Men’s Golf Concludes Regular Season With One-Stroke Dual Loss To St. Thomas

The Gustavus Adolphus College men's golf team concluded its regular season with a one-stroke loss - 308-307 - in a dual meet played Sunday afternoon at Ridges at Sand Creek Golf Course. After seeing the Tommies in eight rounds the past three weekends and defeating their St. Paul foe by a total of 58 strokes through those rounds, Sunday was the first time all spring the Gusties fell to St. Thomas. Gustavus now awaits its postseason fate that will be determined by the NCAA Selection Committee late Monday afternoon.

Men’s and Women’s Golf To Compete In Final Regular Season Meets This Weekend

The Gustavus Adolphus College men's and women's golf teams are set to compete in their final meets of the 2015-16 regular season this weekend, as the men compete in a dual with the University of St. Thomas on Sunday, while the women will play in the Carleton Invite on Saturday and Sunday. The men's dual with the Tommies is set to begin at noon at Ridges at Sand Creek in Jordan, Minn., while the women will play at Bellwood Oaks Golf Course in Hastings, Minn.
