Lenoch, Konicek Named MIAC Softball, Baseball Players of the Week

Gustavus Adolphus softball player Audrey Lenoch (Sr., Pine Island, Minn.) and baseball player Tony Konicek (Jr., Rochester, Minn.) have been named Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference players of the week in their respective sports for the week ending April 16, 2006.

Baseball Sweeps Augsburg 9-5 and 8-7; Konicek Goes 9-for-11 On The Day

Tony Konicek (Jr., Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS) went 9-for-11 in the doubleheader, reaching base 10 of the 11 times he batted, leading Gustavus Adolphus College to a sweep of host Augsburg College in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference baseball action on Saturday afternoon at Parade Stadium.

Saturday’s Gustavus Baseball Doubleheader at Augsburg to be Broadcast Over the Internet

The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference baseball doubleheader between Gustavus Adolphus and Augsburg College Saturday, April 15 will be webcast through the Augsburg athletics website. The doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. at Parade Stadium in Minneapolis.

Baseball Team Splits Doubleheader with Saint John’s Winning 5-3 and Losing 4-2

The Gustavus baseball team split a conference doubleheader with Saint John's on Tuesday afternoon in Saint Peter. The Gusties came from behind to win game one 5-3, but then lost game two 4-2. Gustavus is now 12-9 overall and 2-4 in the MIAC.

Baseball Game With Bethany Lutheran Postponed Until May 2

The Gustavus Adolphus/Bethany Lutheran baseball game rescheduled for Monday, April 17 has been postponed until Tuesday, May 2 at 3 p.m. at Myrum Memorial Field in St. Peter. Gustavus will return to MIAC action Tuesday, April 11 with a home doubleheader against Saint John's.

Baseball Moves to 11-8 Overall With Split at Simpson

The Gustavus baseball team moved its record to 11-8 on the season with a non-conference doubleheader split with Simpson College Sunday in Indianola, Iowa. The Storm took game one, 5-1, but the Gusties scored nine unanswered runs to win game two, 9-2.

Baseball Splits MIAC Doubleheader With Hamline 5-3 and 0-8

The Gustavus Adolphus baseball team picked up their first Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference win of the season Saturday during a doubleheader split with Hamline in St. Paul. The Gusties, behind a complete game by David Wold and a 3-for-4 performance by Ben Sherer, took the opener 5-3. Hamline took the nightcap 8-0 to leave Gustavus at 10-7 overall, 1-2 in the MIAC. The Gusties will travel to Indianola, Iowa Sunday to face Simpson in a non-conference doubleheader.

Baseball Swept By St. Thomas in MIAC Opener

The Gustavus baseball team was swept by St. Thomas in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader Wednesday in St. Peter. The Gusties fell 6-0 in game one and then pushed the Tommies to extra innings before falling 3-2 in 11 innings. The Gusties will be on the road for their next four games, facing MIAC rival Hamline in a doubleheader Saturday afternoon before meeting Simpson in a non-conference doubleheader Sunday.

Baseball Game Against Bethany Lutheran Postponed Until Monday, April 17

Due to questionable field conditions at Myrum Memorial Field in St. Peter, the Gustavus Adolphus/Bethany Lutheran baseball game originally scheduled for Sunday, April 2 and rescheduled for Monday, April 3 has been postponed until Monday, April 17 at 3 p.m. The site of the game has not changed.

Baseball Splits With #25 North Carolina Wesleyan in Arizona

The Gustavus baseball team earned a split with #25 North Carolina Wesleyan Wednesday at the RussMatt Greater Phoenix Invitational, taking game one 3-2 in eight innings before falling 13-1 in game two. Gustavus (8-3) faces Williams in a doubleheader Thursday morning to wrap up its Spring Break trip in Arizona.
