Baseball Drops Two To Oberlin 6-11, 0-2

The Gustavus baseball team fell to 1-4 on its Spring Break Trip to Arizona by dropping two games to Oberlin College of Ohio on Monday afternoon by the scores of 6-11 and 0-2. The Gusties led 6-3 in game one before Oberlin exploded for 8 runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to claim the victory. In game two, Oberlin scored once in the first and once in the seventh to sneak past Gustavus 2-0.

2011 Gustavus Baseball Preview

The 2011 Gustavus baseball team will have a lot of new faces battling for playing time due to five field starters and four starting pitchers lost to graduation, however Coach Mike Carroll thinks his young team has good potential and he has been pleased with the dedication and effort the team has put in during the pre-season.

Baseball Defeats Middlebury 9-3

The Gustavus baseball team improved to 1-2 overall with a 9-3 win over Middlebury College on Sunday afternoon. The Gusties pounded out 13 hits in the game. Senior second baseman Cody Sukalski (Blue Earth, Minn.) went 2-for-2 at the plate and drove in two runs.

Baseball Comes Up Short Twice Against Williams In Arizona

The Gustavus baseball team opened its 2011 season with a couple of heartbreaking losses to Williams College in Phoenix, Arizona. The Gusties dropped the first game of a doubleheader 5-2 in nine innings and then were edged out in the finale 2-1.

Andrew Woitas Earns All-Conference Honors

Gustavus Adolphus senior outfielder Andrew Woitas (Sleepy Eye, Minn.) has been named to the 2010 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) All-Conference Team.

Baseball Game With Bethany Lutheran Cancelled Due To Weather

The baseball doubleheader between Gustavus and Bethany Lutheran College scheduled for 5:30pm Monday night has been cancelled due to the weather. The Gustavus baseball team finishes the 2010 season with a 15-23 overall record and a 5-15 MIAC record.

Baseball Drops Two Heartbreakers To Saint John’s In MIAC Finale

The Gustavus baseball team concluded the MIAC season with two heartbreaking losses at the hands of Saint John’s on Saturday afternoon in Collegeville, Minn. The Johnnies won 7-6 in eight innings in game one, and 4-3 in nine innings in game two. Gustavus falls to 15-22 overall and 5-14 in the MIAC, while Saint John’s improves to 20-16 overall and 13-6 in the MIAC.

Road Struggles Continue, Baseball Swept By Augsburg

The Gustavus baseball team fell to 0-8 on the road in MIAC play with 11-7, and 3-2 losses to Augsburg on Wednesday afternoon in Minneapolis. Gustavus falls to 15-21 overall and 5-13 in the MIAC, while Augsburg stays in the playoff chase, improving to 18-19 overall and 11-7 in the MIAC.

Baseball Sweeps Martin Luther 10-6, And 20-3

The Gustavus baseball team got the bats rolling in a doubleheader sweep over non-conference opponent Martin Luther College by scores of 10-6 and 20-3 on Monday afternoon in St. Peter, Minn. Andrew Woitas and Adam Bren registered wins on the mound for the Gusties, as Kyle Rains was the top Gustavus hitter, going 7-for-8 with three runs, four RBIs, and a double on the day.

Baseball Splits With Carleton On Senior Day

The Gustavus baseball team got a doubleheader split with Carleton on Saturday afternoon in St. Peter, Minn. with a 6-4 loss in game one and a 15-14 victory in game two. Gustavus moves to 13-19 overall and 5-11 in the MIAC. Cody Sukalski was the top Gustavus hitter of the day, going going 6-for-8 with two runs and three RBIs.
