Baseball To Host Instructional Camp Oct. 14 At Newly Renovated Field

The Gustavus baseball coaching staff is holding an instructional camp on Saturday, October 14 at the Gustavus baseball field from 9:30 a.m. to noon. In the event of inclement weather the camp will be moved indoors to the Lund Athletic Center.

Gustavus Set To Induct Nine New Members Into Athletics Hall Of Fame

The Gustavus Adolphus College Athletics Department has chosen nine individuals for induction into its Athletics Hall of Fame. The 2017 inductees include Brian Bergstrom ’02 (Football), Ryan Britz ’00 (Football), Sarah Garrison Moe ’02 (Hockey), Alicia Golembeski ’02 (Golf), Chad Gustafson ’01 (Golf), Brad Mazer ’02 (Baseball), Brenda Magoba ’97 (Track & Field), Rauha Rahkola ’97 (Cross Country/Track & Field), and Jerry Connolly (Coach). This group will be honored at the Athletics Hall of Fame Banquet, which will be held in Alumni Hall on Saturday, Sept. 23, following the Homecoming football game against Hamline at 1 p.m.

63 Gusties Recognized As MIAC Winter-Spring Academic All-Conference

Student-athletes in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) continue to achieve in both athletics and the classroom. For the second consecutive year, the MIAC has recognized more than 1,000 student-athletes with Academic All-Conference honors.

Chatfield, Lewandoski Named MIAC Baseball All-Conference

The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its 2017 All-Conference Baseball Team on Monday and two Gusties were honored with postseason accolades. Right fielder Josh Chatfield (Sr., Apple Valley, Minn.) and pitcher Casey Lewandoski (Jr., Fairbanks, Alaska) were named to the All-Conference Team, both making their first appearance on the All-MIAC team.

Casey Lewandoski Named MIAC Pitcher Of The Week

Casey Lewandoski (Jr., Fairbanks, Alaska) appeared in three games and earned wins against Augsburg and St. Thomas. Throughout the week, Lewandoski threw seven innings of scoreless relief, allowing just three hits, while striking out four batters. The Fairbanks native tossed five innings of shutout baseball against St. Thomas in the season finale, earning the win in a 13-inning contest. Lewandoski dropped his season ERA from 3.64 to 2.95 and finished the year with 19 appearances, setting a new Gustavus program record for most appearances in a single season.

Gustie Baseball Field Sent Off In Style, Gusties Top League-Leading St. Thomas In 13 Innings

The Gustavus baseball team played the last game ever at the natural-grass Gustie Baseball Field Saturday, and sent it off in dramatic fashion by upsetting league-leading St. Thomas 5-4 in 13 innings for a doubleheader split. The Gusties dropped the first game 6-5 before the thrilling extra-inning victory to finish the season 21-17 overall and 9-11 in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The Tommies move to 24-13 overall and 16-4 in the league and may now have to share the regular season title with Bethel, pending the outcome of its doubleheader tomorrow.
