The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) announced Wednesday its Division III National Players of the Week and Gustavus senior Weston Lombard (Stillwater) has been selected as the Pitcher of the Week.

The Gustavus baseball team’s home doubleheader vs. Augsburg scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Wednesday (5/5) is postponed to 2:30 p.m. Thursday (5/6) due to the forecasted weather.

Another dominant pitching performance from Weston Lombard (Sr., Stillwater) in game one followed by a thrilling comeback walk-off victory in game two gave the Gustavus baseball team a doubleheader sweep over St. Olaf on Tuesday.

Lombard Named MIAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week

In his seventh career start, Lombard tossed a nine-inning no-hitter as Gustavus baseball completed the three-game series sweep with a 2-0 victory over Bethel. Lombard’s no-hitter is the first by a Gustavus pitcher since Josh Spitzack ’06 threw a seven-inning no-hitter in a 5-0 win over Carleton on April 4, 2005.

Weekend Baseball Series vs. St. Olaf Postponed

The Gustavus baseball team's four-game series (three designated as MIAC contests) against St. Olaf, scheduled for a doubleheader in Saint Peter on Saturday and a doubleheader Sunday in Northfield, is postponed due to COVID-19 testing protocols.

Baseball Loses Rain Soaked 11-Inning Game vs. Concordia

In rain soaked Tuesday afternoon that had a 45-minute delay to start the game and another hour-long delay in the sixth inning, the Gustavus baseball team suffered a 5-4, 11-inning loss to Concordia.

Damon Rademacher Named MIAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week

Gustavus reliever Damon Rademacher (Sr., Princeton) picked up his second save of the season in a 3-1 win over St. Thomas and earned the win at Bethel, improving to 3-0 this year. For his performance, Rademacher has been named MIAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week. 

Thelen’s Ninth Inning Heroics Secures Baseball Sweep at Bethel

Trailing by a run and down to the last out with nobody on base, Bryce Novak (So, Cleveland) kept the game alive with a single and Dalton Thelen (Jr., Cold Spring) ensued with a clutch two-run homer to give the Gustavus baseball team a 5-4 lead at Bethel in the ninth inning, which held for a final to secure the doubleheader sweep.

Three Gustavus athletic events scheduled for Sunday, April 25 have been postponed to later dates.
