Gustavus Adolphus senior Kourtney Joyce finished ninth in the 3000-meter steeplechase Friday, while junior Tanner Miest and senior Ashley Cronen advanced to Saturday’s finals in the 110-meter hurdles and 800-meter run, respectively, at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships being held this weekend at Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois.

Gustavus Adolphus senior women’s tennis player Tara Houlihan (Sioux Falls, S.D.) has been named the 2006 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Senior Player of the Year for the NCAA Division III Central Region. Houlihan is the second consecutive Gustie to receive the honor. Kara Smiley captured the award last season.

Konicek, a center fielder, also received the Max Molock Award as the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference’s Most Valuable Player after leading the league in a number of offensive categories.
